Mission Living Waters
by Ian Curwood
I first went to Africa as a speaker in Feb 2008 to a place called Shariani in South East Kenya. I had a very detailed and specific message of the Fathers Love to share that came in a dream. I always loved this message as I could never have written it. It was such an experience to visit Africa for the first time and share what I had seen.
During that trip I made a number of un-scheduled visits. One of them took me about 70 kilometres North to a place called Milano in Malindi near the equator. I went to see a new church that a local pastor was trying to build, that visit was to become a life changing event for me, the exposure to such poverty mixed with the Joy of people who knew Jesus as their personal Lord and saviour has changed the way I see and think. The pastor was a very humble man who wanted to build a Church in the area and serve his local community. When I saw the struggle he faced and the way he and his family were living, I was moved to help him to achieve his goal. The poverty in his area was shocking to me, the pastor didn't ask me for money or even for my help, he didn't seem to see the problems, he only saw the finished goal and he simply asked if I would pray for him, and that I would not forget what I had seen when I went home. His approach taught me a valuable lesson in faith, He was just excited that someone had come and seen what they were trying to do. The church in these very poor areas is where people go for help, there are no social services in such places. Our work is not only sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ, but it is to strengthen the local church pastors so they are able to help their own local community in practical ways. From that first project in Kenya which I called the Malindi Project, the work has now grown to help other communities, we have been active in preaching the gospel and helping the poor from the south east coast of Kenya to the North West. In 2012 we became a registered Charitable trust called Mission Living Waters, through the Trust we have run different projects from Takaye and Milano in the province of Malindi, going south to the Mombassa and Vipingo where we now built a house of prayer and intercession called (VHOP) this house has also ministered to the sick and needy and many have come to know Jesus as their saviour through this ministry. We have also worked in North Rift with the Higher Vision Centre Church ministry. There we have secured land for the church to relocate to, and we are currently working with them to reach homeless and orphaned children who live rough on the street and on dump sites. In 2013 we went to West of Kenya with a team from Shariani, preaching the Gospel in the Rift Valley, through an amazing vision God had given to strengthen local Pastors in Eldoret, and Mumias. We have since seen many things change in those areas and the Church has grown in stature as many lives have been touched through the Power of the gospel. As we have shared the gospel of Jesus Christ and ministered in many small villages we have witnessed literally hundreds of people receive their miracle healing through Gods Power, the blind have had their sight restored, the mute speak, the deaf hear and the lame have walked, knee and hip joints restored to working, all kinds of sickness's just healed, there is so much more to tell that it is staggering to me, to see the Love of God touch and change peoples lives and circumstances is such a privilege. Your generous support is of such great value to what we do, so please continue to support us, God bless you. One person explained it like this to me: 'you will never be able to out give God', whatever you give away He will always give you more in ways you could not conceive. In my experience that has been very true. |
