An Urgent appeal for your assistance in Kenya where people have died of starvation.
It is some time since our last newsletter which was reporting on the official opening of the Hidden Treasure Children’s Home in Eldoret, this was just before the pandemic. We have been busy since that time on various successful projects which we will report on in time to come.
As I write there is a State of Emergency declared in Kenya following serious drought conditions that has caused famine. It is sadly confirmed that people and cattle have died of starvation and thirst, such a tragic situation. Mission Living Waters are working with Light of God Evangelism in Kenya who have a strong team on the ground preaching the Gospel of salvation boldly. We have supplied food for the hungry and we have tried to secure 3 x 10,000 litre tankers carrying lifesaving water. At this stage those tankers cannot be dispatched as the water companies cannot supply. We will continue to make every effort to secure water.
Our First stop 26th October prior to entering Kwale county is Bamba which is in Kilifi county towards Tsavo East national park. The desperation of the situation there was very clear to see. Many people literally begged our team for water, but we were unable to give them water as the tanker had not arrived.
This short video report helps describe the serious situation faced by the people.

The teams first encounter. Irene Riziki was our first fruit today!!
On our way to Makwala we met a woman carrying empty jerricans going to look for water. We stopped her and asked her to come to us that we would get her water. We preached Jesus to her, she gave her life to the Lord, then the whole family came out. We talked to them about Jesus and 12 of them came to the Lord so a total of 13 in the same family!
Then we proceeded to where everyone had gathered waiting in Bamba. The Gospel was preached and the Lord moved touching hearts, 43 of them gave their life to Jesus making a total of 56 saved. It was a great day! Vital food supplies arriving in Bamba The team arrived in Bamba with good food stocks of Maize and Beans which we had sent funds for. This was vital as people had died of starvation and thirst. The hungry were fed and all the people praised and worshipped the Lord together for all He had done. |
It had not rained in Bamba for two years and people and cattle had died there, as the team finally left on the 27th , the water cans and buckets the people had brought hoping we could give them water sadly remained empty. It was difficult that we had to go knowing the people still had no water after all the Lord had done in Bamba. There remained one urgent need still to be met that we have been unable to provide for.
The Lord did an unusual miracle;
Less than two hours after the team had left Bamba where all the people had worshipped God together on the dry and barren land, God opened the heavens and it poured with heavy rain for a long time, filling all the peoples water cans and barrels to the brim, there was great rejoicing and our team had a phone call to say, you are unusual people, you came here and preached the Gospel, you fed the hungry, but you could not give us water to drink, now since you have been here it has rained for the first time in two years, the people believe there is truly a God in heaven who cares for them. We give glory to God and thank Him for all He has done in Bamba. Matthew 25:31-40

The below short clip shows the Joy and worship as the first food was arriving in Bamba.
Our team now heads to Vigurungani moving closer to the boarder with Tanzaniain. Please pray for the team and the fruit of this mission as they travel across hundreds of kilometres of difficult mud roads to the south of Kenya to take the Gospel and vital food and water supplies to some of the hardest hit areas. We hope to be able to send out another report from this area in the next week.
