Education Project

In Shariani late in 2013 MLW started a pilot education project, the idea was to help some bright young students who had no access to secondary school because of the lack of funds. Secondary school costs about £4.00 a week, or £200.00 a year, this covers their education, books and food, the school feed the children each day, which helps them concentrate during their school day. If they are hungry they don’t do so well. I noticed at each lunch period there were always some children not eating, this was because they didn’t have their lunch money for the day which was about 30p, other’s couldn’t attend school at all.
Our project was to find sponsors for those we could, and give them a chance. This has been a great success on a small scale, we have our first student who has now completed his secondary school education with good results, he has been offered a place in Nairobi University where he is now studying commerce on a 4 year course, giving him the skills for good work opportunities. There are others awaiting their final exam results from Dec 2016, and others who are still at school working hard.

We have identified more bright and hopeful young students who would hope to be able to access secondary school education, If you would like to help us in this project, and enable a student to gain their secondary education, we would be delighted to hear from you, you can contact us by e mail via our contact page on this site for further details. Thank you.
